Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and creative Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our Cancer Immunology & Immune Modulation Department located in Ridgefield, CT. This position is part of the global Boehringer Ingelheim Post-Doctoral Program - https://careers.boehringer-ingelheim.com/post-doc/

As a Post-Doctoral Fellow, you will be a primary driver of an innovative research project in basic immunology with a primary focus on myeloid cell biology and its biological impact in human disease settings including autoimmunity, cancer and fibrosis. The ideal candidate is an independent and driven immunologist willing to explore novel immune modulatory mechanisms and to test them using cutting edge in vitro and in vivo systems.Post-Doctoral Fellows are expected to independently conduct research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Take full responsibility for a research project, with guidance from experienced mentors with extensive background in academia and industry
Provide input to create, organize, and execute a research project in immune modulation
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present data at scientific conferences
Comply with all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintaining proper records in accordance with SOP’s and policies

Desired Experience, Skills And Abilities

Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge research
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in molecular and cellular immunology
Experience with in vivo models is preferred but not required

Requirements

PhD degree in Immunology or related discipline
Ability to work independently, design and execute experimental strategy to advance projects
Significant track record of high impact publications in relevant areas of immunology research
Excellent written and oral communication skills

About Boehringer Ingelheim’s Post-Doctoral Program

The initial appointment is for 2 years contract with potential for an extension (1 to 2 years)
As a Post-Doctoral Fellow you will benefit from a fully resourced and fully funded research environment with access to a unique support system including state-of-the-art tools and equipment
Embedded in the BI Discovery Research organization, you will benefit from vibrant and regular scientific exchange within BI’s post doc community, including global BI post doc retreats, and with research scientists as well as with academic collaborators
You will be expected to publish your scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and present your data at international conference
At the end of the Post-Doctoral program you will have the opportunity to compete for a transition grant to facilitate starting up your next lab at an academic institution

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
Must be 18 years of age or older
