【星島綜合報道】曾任多倫多市議員及多倫多公車局（TTC）主席的Howard Moscoe逝世，享年86歲。多倫多市長鄒至蕙（Olivia Chow）周六（23日）公布消息，形容對方是「許多人的朋友」，一生為改善多倫多作出巨大貢獻。
鄒至蕙在社交平台發文表示，對前市議會同僚離世感到悲痛，並讚揚Moscoe長年致力推動社會公義及城市建設。
她表示：「Howard為建立更美好的多倫多作出重大貢獻，他的一生值得大家銘記。」

Moscoe於1939年11月28日出生，在市政界服務長達31年，政治生涯始於1978年，當年當選北約克市議員，其後歷任大都會議員及多倫多市議員。
在從政之前，他曾於北約克擔任中學美術教師，其後更出任北約克教師聯會主席及安省教師聯會理事。
鄒至蕙指出，Moscoe一直積極推動交通及公共建設，包括支持將Don Valley Parkway及Gardiner Expressway上交省府管理，並致力推動地鐵列車更新工程。
她又提到，Moscoe一直關注可負擔房屋問題，特別支持北約克地區按收入比例計租（rent-geared-to-income）住房政策。
1997年多倫多市政合併後，Moscoe成為首任TTC主席，期間積極推動公共交通擴展、提升乘客量及改善無障礙服務。
TTC亦發聲明表示深切哀悼，並宣布旗下所有設施下半旗致哀。
聲明指出，Moscoe任內經歷多項重大挑戰，包括沙士疫情及北美大停電事故，但仍成功推動乘客增長策略，為之後十年的公共交通發展奠下基礎。
TTC又表示，在其領導下，局方展開Queens Quay有軌電車線工程、Sheppard地鐵線建設，以及Hillcrest控制中心項目。
多名市議員亦發文悼念。Humber River-Black Creek市議員Anthony Perruzza形容Moscoe是「小市民真正的捍衛者」，一生堅持公平與同情心。
