在7日晚的暴雨中，不仅道路被淹无法通行，因雷暴导致的停电现象也在多个区域发生。很多人家在黑暗中度过这个漫长的风雨之夜，一时间，像极了2017年“哈维”飓风时的景象。
事实上，自“哈维”以来，大休斯敦地区一直在对重点河道进行拓宽，并对整个疏浚系统进行整治，但是，一旦遇到短时集中强降雨，市政的抗洪能力仍然会遇到挑战。对于在某些高危地区居住的市民来说，逢暴雨就心慌，已经成为挥之不去的阴影。而一些家庭为了防范万一而特地购置小船，也已经成为休斯敦一景。
