Goals:

Learn about the ecologyand environment in Lynn Canyon and to have students take personal leadership ontheir own learning.

活动目标：

What should students bring?

This day will include a 3-hour hike. Toparticipate, you must be wearing suitable hiking boots or good running shoeswith treads and ankle support. No sandals please.

Dress for the weather: This includes rain gearand an extra warm layer.

Bring a full water bottle, hat, and sunscreen.

Lunch

A phone! Yep, we’ll needphones for this one, to take photos. Students will be asked not to use theirphones for anything else

-$2 per person cash for Ecology Center

Activities

- We will go on a ~3 hour hike around Rice Lake, Lynn Headwaters, andLynn Canyon.

- We will learn about the environment of the area.

- Students will participate in an educational scavenger hunt where theymust find answers to questions related to the environment, and use their focusto recognize locations.

- We will visit Lynn Canyon Ecology Center to learn more about thenatural history of the area.

- Students will need to research answers to questions using the toolsavailable to them.

Learning Outcomes

Leadership & Communication: Students will need to work together to solve problems and researchanswers.

Personal Leadership: Students will be responsible for coming prepared for the hike, based on information they learned on Wednesday. Students must take initiative in their own learning to discover answers to a list of questions.

Physical Aptitude: Students will challenge on a hike of a moderate level.

Cultural Competence: Students will learn about how humans have impacted the environment ofthe area, including logging.

Environmental Awareness: Students will learn about the ecology, animals, and natural historyof the area, as well as some techniques to reduce their environmental footprint.
